If you're doing N Cascades and Olympic


There are lots of cool little towns on the Olympic Penninsula. Take the Ferry to from/ Port Townshend and you can avoid driving through Seattle (aargh!). Lots of cool things to see on the way like Deception Pass, Dungeness Split (Sequim), etc.

My wife is from Tacoma so we spend a good amount of time out there. Last summer we spend a few days in Ferndale (where her Aunt lives)/Bellingham (where she went to college) and used that to drive into North Cascades. We went to Birch Bay state park as well which was a unique (for me) visit to the beach, but you'll get even better at Ruby Beach in Olympic NP.

We have been to Mt Rainier a million times and it is awesome. I would certainly hit that up if at all possible. Much more hiking than at N Cascades. Mt Saint Helens is my favorite, just really cool stories and unique landscapes.
